Recently, our CEO Craig McIntosh gave Fiona Rotherham from NBR a look inside PharmaZen’s trading arm, Waitaki Biosciences, speaking to her about the company's unique position in the nutraceutical market, our own branded products, plans for China and new manufacturing opportunities.
Development work is focused on raw materials that are currently under-utilised but have reliable supply and high nutritional value.
McIntosh says what makes the Christchurch-based company unique is that it can look at a material and it’s opportunities, but isn’t tied to a single process.
“We have multiple drying technologies, extensive enzyme hydrolysis capabilities, solvent extraction, milling (powder/size reduction) and, of course, the finished product capabilities. We can take a frozen shin bone from a cow and take it through to a bottle of capsules or convert frozen krill meal into a blister pack box of soft gel capsules."
